Harold K. Logsdon
Harold K. Logsdon was born in Springfield, KY August 1945.
Logsdon grew up on a farm where he learned the value of hard work at a very early age. While in his senior year of High School he joined the National Guard. After graduation from High School he attended his U.S. Army training. After that training he was employed by BellSouth (then known as South Central Bell) where he held several technical assignments early in his career.
Still in the National Guard, he enrolled in Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1967. He remained in the National Guard 38 years retiring at the rank of Colonel.
Logsdon was promoted to his first management position with South Central Bell in 1972 while in Danville, KY. He was soon transferred to Birmingham, AL on the Headquarters Staff.
Realizing the need for higher education, he began night school and later received his B.S. Degree from the University of Alabama. He went on to graduate from the U. S. Army War College and also received his M. S. Degree in Management from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI.
After twenty years in Birmingham, AL, Logsdon was transferred to Atlanta, GA on the BellSouth Corporate Staff as a manager in the Audit Department. He finished his career of 36 years with BellSouth in May 2000.
After retirement from BellSouth, Logsdon worked briefly at NCR, but left to start his own management consulting company. After about three years of consulting work he obtained his Securities License and began working as a Financial Planner with Lincoln Financial Advisors. Always having an interest in politics, Logsdon ran for and was elected Mayor of Peachtree City, GA and began serving as Mayor January 1, 2006. He closed his Financial Planning practice to give full time attention to the job of Mayor.
As a child, Logsdon was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Explorer Scout. As a young adult he served as Scout Master for the Scout Troop in Springfield, KY and later for the Scout Troop in Danville, KY.
In Birmingham, AL, Logsdon was active in many organizations. He was a member of the Shades Valley Jaycees and was their President in 1977. Also, an avid golfer, he was a member of Altadena Valley Country Club serving on the Board of Directors eight years and one year as President. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Golf Association for four years, serving as President one year.
In Peachtree City, Logsdon is a member of the Kiwanis, Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, The American Legion, and Peachtree City Christian Church
He and his wife Ann, also of Springfield, KY, were married on September 2, 1967. They have two daughters, Paula Wardlaw of Atlanta, GA and Sandy Saxon of Montgomery, AL.
